About the South Portland
Neighborhood Association
The South Portland Neighborhood
Association is the city recognized neighborhood association for the
area just south of downtown Portland, Oregon. (See maps below) The
neighborhood association was one of the first two neighborhood
associations recognized by the city of Portland in the 1970s. The NA
represents many smaller neighborhoods within the boundarys including
Lair Hill, South Waterfront, Corbett, Johns Landing, Terwilliger and
Fulton. We are an all volunteer organization made up of the people who
live and work in South Portland. The NA has a 15 member board elected
for 2 year positions from the neigborhood. There are also several
committees that work on neighborhood issues. There is a always a
lot to do and we are always needing more help if you have a little
extra time.

South Portland is Portland, Oregon's
oldest and newest neighborhood. The site of the first residence in
Portland is in South Portland. There is a plaque commemorating the site
in a newly established park in the newest neighborhood in town: South
Waterfront.
